We can’t drive through Tillamook without stopping at the Cheese Factory. We’ve been there a thousand times & I’m sure we’ll go a thousand more times. The factory makes cheese. Fabulous Tillamook Cheese! From a viewing area upstairs, cheese lovers can watch how it is made. I have peeked through those windows many, many times.
31 Days in Oregon: Barview Jetty
About 45 minutes south of Cannon Beach & 20 minutes north of Tillamook is Barview Jetty. You don’t come here for carousels or fancy boutiques. You come to enjoy the beauty of the beach, go fishing & play in the sand.
31 Days in Oregon: Cannon Beach
Cannon Beach is about a 15 minute drive from what I would guess is Oregon’s most visited coastal city, Seaside. Cannon Beach is popular, too. But is more trendy & upscale than Seaside.
31 Days in Oregon: Seaside
Seaside is a very touristy coastal town about an hour and a half from Portland. It’s not a place we go to often, but living in Oregon my entire life I’ve been there a number of times.
31 Days in Oregon : Central Oregon
Central Oregon is full of beautiful sites to see & places to explore. Here’s a list of just a handful of things to see:
31 Days in Oregon : Newberry National Volcanic Monument
Central Oregon’s landscape is very different than that of the Northwest part, where we live. It is considered high dessert, has dry summer’s and snowy winters. The area is dominated by volcanic activity with craters, cinder cones & piles of lava rock. A great place to visit to see all this volcanic action is Newberry National Volcanic Monument in Deschutes National Forest, about 30 miles
31 Days in Oregon: Crater Lake
I have lived in Oregon all my life and the first time I saw Crater Lake was about 11 years ago. Farm Kid1 was just a couple months old. It was as amazing as everyone says. Wanting my kids to see this natural wonder at a younger age than I was when I saw it the first time, we visited it again a couple years
31 Days in Oregon: Tualatin Heritage Center
Over the summer, the kids & I went to the Tualatin Heritage Center for the first time. It is a small museum with only a few exhibits. We had a great visit. The woman inside was very helpful and informative. She answered my children’s unending questions.
31 Days in Oregon: Cabela’s
I am not a shopper. Never have been. However, I will admit to being slightly excited about the new Cabela’s store that just opened in Tualatin last month. Years ago, before Cabela’s went public and there weren’t many stores to visit, we stopped at a couple stores on a road trip to Minnesota. I loved them. The buildings and decor were beautiful. They were great
31 Days in Oregon: Rose Parade
The Rose Parade, or more formally known as the Grand Floral Parade, is Portland’s largest Parade. It is held during the first part of June during Portland’s Rose Festival. The Rose Festival has been a tradition for over 100 years & is still going strong. There are many activities taking place during the Festival, but the most popular is the Rose Parade.
