This was it. This was my day. My 40th birthday spent doing a half marathon in Disneyland.
The Hippie Chick event is a women’s event, which takes place Mother’s Day weekend. It is part of the Hood to Coast race series, which always has good events. I have a soft spot for the event because it was the first race I signed up for when I started running. That year I finished the quarter marathon. The next year I did it again,
Another year of running in the books. I’m still amazed I can call myself a runner. I started out the year by running at Disneyland. I can’t ever complain about that. In October, I accomplished something I didn’t even know I could dream about finishing – my first marathon. I ran more miles in 2016 than ever.
I’m not sure when running a marathon crept into my thoughts. The last I recall thinking I don’t have any desire to run 26+ miles. I even tried to hush the vague whisperings in my head when they first started showing up. Then, at some point a few months ago, I decided I would go for it. But, before I would commit and sign up
Because I will be running my first marathon in October and need to get in many long training runs, I signed up for a virtual run to keep things interesting. I found the perfect one – celebrating the 100th birthday of our National Park Service. I love our National Parks and am so thankful every time I get to visit one. We do live in
