Mother’s Day weekend I ran a quarter marathon, or 6.55 miles. Last February I started running. Last May was my first race & it was this one, the Hippie Chick. Last year my goal was just to finish the race. And, I did. I walked the first 4 miles with friends, then ran the last 2.5 miles. I remember being so nervous last year &
Yesterday I ran my first 5k event of 2014: The Shamrock Run in Portland. It is a big event with over 30,000 runners & walkers. As well as the 5k, there is also an 8k, 15k & kid’s run. I don’t have a constant running partner & sometimes I run solo. But this time I talked my hubby into running with me. This is as
Thanksgiving morning the kids, hubby & I completed the 4 mile Turkey Trot at the Oregon Zoo. The race began near the World Forestry Center. Then continued through Washington Park, down the hill towards the Portland Rose Gardens, back up the hill and finished inside the Oregon Zoo. It was a good event with great weather and a bit of challenge for the kids. Their
I participated in a number of 5k’s throughout the summer & the Ugly Sweater Run will be my last one of the year. The first time I ran/walked a 5k in March was horrible. Since moving further away & having 3 kids, going to the gym is no longer realistic. I was hoping all the work it takes in owning 12 acres would be enough to
Back in February I wrote a blog post complaining about the lack of weight loss & the motivation to run. To keep me motivated I signed up with a friend to walk a 10k. Today was the event. I’m happy to say that I finished. I walked the first 4 miles with a friend, then ran the last 2.6 miles. I ran 2.6 miles! Only
I don’t typically post about my weight, health, etc. But, I’m starting a new routine because I keep getting bigger… and bigger… and bigger & I feel like ranting. I officially weigh more now than I did when I was pregnant with any of my kids… and my last one weighed a whopping 10lbs, 11oz when she was born. This much weight gain is unacceptable.
