Another year of running in the books. I’m still amazed I can call myself a runner. I started out the year by running at Disneyland. I can’t ever complain about that. In October, I accomplished something I didn’t even know I could dream about finishing – my first marathon. I ran more miles in 2016 than ever.
2016 Race Recap – Bridge of the Gods Half Marathon
In August I completed the Bridge of the Gods Half Marathon. It was an event I’d heard about and thought about doing. So, when my friend, Molly, asked if I would do it with her for her first half marathon, I said, “Of course!” The actual Bridge of the Gods spans the Columbia River connecting Washington & Oregon. Recently the bridge has gained popularity due
2016 Race Recap – Helvetia Half Marathon
The Helvetia Half Marathon had been on my bucket list for awhile now. However, the course made me nervous. I had heard it’s hilly and difficult. A friend was interested in doing it and asked if I would do it with her. Of course, I said I would do it – hills and all.
Road to a Half Marathon Photo Book
Who knew I was going to become a runner? I certainly didn’t. However, I found that it works for my lifestyle. I don’t love the training, but I really enjoy the run events. I’m not fast, but I finish. It is rewarding. I feel good. I feel accomplished. Somewhere around the beginning of my running adventure I learned about the Tinker Bell Half Marathon in
2016 Race Recap – Vernonia Half Marathon
The Vernonia Half Marathon marked my 5th half in a year, as well as my 5th half marathon ever. Last May I ran my first half at Disneyland. Apparently the enjoyment outweighed the pain and agony since I keep going back for more. I commemorated #5 by wearing the same outfit as I wore at my first one. Trust me, I felt like I needed
2016 Race Recap – Champoeg 10K
As part of the ORRC 10K series, in early March I ran the Champoeg 10K. I wasn’t sure until just a day or two before if I was able to take part this event, but thankfully scheduling worked out and I was able to squeeze it into my day.
2016 Race Recap – Worst Day of the Year 5K
Last minute I decided to sign up for the Worst Day of the Year Run in Troutdale. I also convinced Farm Kid1 to do it with me. Running in February can often mean running in cold temperatures, wind and rain – thus the Worst Day. However, this particular day was great. It wasn’t warm, but it wasn’t freezing and the wind and rain stayed away.
2016 Race Recap – Winter Quarter Marathon
Uberthons has a 2016 half marathon series with one event each season. I wanted to sign up for the entire series, but wasn’t sure about the timing on a couple of the events. So, I didn’t. However, a friend from high school was training for her first half marathon and was interested in doing the quarter marathon. I signed up to walk it with her
2016 Race Recap – Star Wars Half Marathon
Doh! The big day. A Disney Half Marathon. And, not only that is was the second race of the Rebel Challenge. The Star Wars 10K + Star Wars Half Marathon = Star Wars Rebel Challenge. 2 races in 2 days. 3 medals. I woke up at the should-still-be-sleeping time of 3:30am. I didn’t do much for costumes. But, I did decide to wear orange. I
2016 Race Recap – Star Wars 10K
Saturday was the first race of the Star Wars Rebel Challenge at Disneyland. It was a 10K, which at this point, is my favorite distance. It’s more challenging than a 5K. But not near as challenging as a half marathon. I still feel fairly new to running. I’ve actually not run many 10K’s and the next day would only be my 3rd half marathon. So,
