May 2014 Bloom Day title

Hip hip hurray! There’s so much in bloom this month.

FRONT YARD

Top Left: I love the English Daisies. A few were blooming last month, as well. But, they’ve got a better showing this month. Bottom Right: A small patch of Spanish Bluebells.

Top Left: Creeping Phlox & Rhode Island Red chicks. Top Right: One little Columbine ‘Aguilena’ flower. Bottom Left: One of my fav’s – creeping phlox. It began blooming last month, but is in full swing now. I can’t wait until it covers the entire cement wall. Bottom Right: I love the color of the flowers on creeping thyme.

BACK YARD

Top Left: Years ago, my parents dug this shrub out of their yard. We gladly took it. This is the first year it has bloomed for us. Top Right: The Japanese Rose was just starting to bloom last month. It is continuing to bloom, but is starting to fade. Bottom Left: Crab apple blossoms. So pretty! Bottom Right: We moved here 6 years ago. This lilac started from a shoot I brought with us from our old house. It’s gotten off to a slow start because the deer find it quite tasty. But, year after year it gets just a tiny bit bigger.

BIRD VILLAGE

Top Right: The Weigela plants were a bit too close to the edge of this bed, so in the fall I moved two of them back just a bit. They’ve always been a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, so far this year they aren’t looking quite as good as they once did. Bottom Left: Most of the lupine isn’t blooming yet, but I did find this one that is. Bottom Right: Ajuga… and renegade ferns thinking about opening. They pop up all over.

I can’t wait to see what colors next month brings.

I’m sharing this post at May Dreams Gardens.
