Celebrating 100 - title

About one year ago I came up with the idea to open an etsy shop selling digital graphics. Near the end of summer, fears set aside, I opened the shop. Six months later I get to celebrate 100 sales in my shop. Amazing! And, thank you!

I have been a stay at home mom for the past 13 years. Last year, for the first time, all 3 of my kids went to public school, giving me a few hours each day to myself. It was time to put that graphic design degree I earned to work. Doing something I enjoy outside of mom stuff has been wonderful. And, earning a few bucks is rewarding in its own way. So, thanks again to everyone for supporting my small business.

Photo Booth Props

My etsy shop primarily sells photo booth props at the moment, which I love. We live in a stressful world, and I love that people can let loose and enjoy their friends & family using props made to celebrate life’s milestone’s. Click here to download snowman props for free.

Ridgetop Farm and Garden | 12 Days of December | Warm Up Here Burlap and CanvasDay 2 of our 12 Days of December series is an addition to yesterday’s Hot Drinks Bar Party Kit. We are making a burlap sign to hang in the Bar area.

12 Days of December

December 2nd: Warm Up Here Burlap & Canvas Sign

Ridgetop Farm and Garden | 12 Days of December | Warm Up Here Burlap and Canvas

Materials

16″ x 20″ Canvas
Burlap – at least 20″ x 24″
Red Acrylic Paint and Paint Spouncer
Exacto Knife and Cutting Mat
Scissors, Stapler, Paper, and Tape

Attaching Burlap to the Canvas

Top Left: Center canvas right side down on burlap
Top Right, and Middle Photos: Fold burlap over edge of canvas, pulling slightly so it has a snug fit. Staple in place.
Bottom Left: Trim burlap edges
Bottom Right: Flip over and enjoy how easy it was to add burlap to your canvas.

Creating and Painting the Stencil

I’ll admit this is a little tedious. Not difficult, just not all that fun.

Click here to download the 4 pages for the stencil.

Using an exacto knife and cutting mat, cut out the letters. This is a stencil, so the actual letter piece is not being used. Don’t forget to keep the insides of the A, R’s and P. Tape the stencil together, then tape the stencil to your burlap canvas.

Using red acrylic paint, dab the spouncer into the blank parts of the stencil, paying attention not to get paint under the stencil. You are dabbing, not brushing on the paint.

Carefully lift off the stencil and your cold weather sign is complete.
Ridgetop Farm and Garden | 12 Days of December | Warm Up Here Burlap and Canvas

You will notice on this pdf printable little dots inside the letters. Those are in case you want to forgo the burlap and instead would like to add lights to your canvas. You will stencil the letters on in the same way as the burlap canvas instructions. Then, poke holes where indicated through the canvas. Attach small Christmas lights behind the canvas and push one light through each hole. I love this idea. However, I was going for a rustic look so I went with the burlap version.

Have fun with this Warm Up Here Printable! However, do not sell or share the file as your own. Also, do not post the pdf on your social media page, please link back to this original post.

Ridgetop Farm and Garden | Learn State Capitals | Week 3 | free printable

Ten new flashcards are available each week. To use, cut along the solid line. Then fold on the dashed line & glue sides together. One side of the flashcard has the state, the other has its capital. Another optional use for the flashcards is to cut the state from the capital & play a memory game. Instead of searching for two same pieces, you are searching for a state & its capital.

This year one of my goals was to have Farm Kid1 learn the names of all our 50 states, as well as their capitals. He already knew most of the states, but only knew that Salem was Oregon’s capital. I came up with a series of worksheets & flashcards so he could focus on 10 capitals per week. After 5 weeks he learned all 50 state capitals. The best part was that he actually enjoyed learning them all.

Each week there are 10 different states from a particular region. For example, week 1 focuses on the western states.

Ridgetop Farm and Garden | Learn State Capitals | Week 1 | free printable

There are 5 types of worksheets: Learn ’em, Crossword, Word Search, Match ’em & Label ’em. Also included are test pages, flashcards and an answer sheet. Each week expands on the last. By week 5 you have the option of testing just the 10 new state capitals or all 50. I gave Farm Kid1 both tests, but you certainly don’t have to.

Recently we went on a road trip & a few of my ideas for keeping the kids busy in the car included cookie sheets from the Dollar Store & as many magnetic games/things I could reasonably bring with us. The Dollar Store had magnetic coins & bills! I thought, “what a great find,” and at a fabulous price. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them, but I thought for sure the kids would enjoy them. I ended up making worksheets for each of my kids at their individual math level.

MAGNETIC COINS & BILLS

COUNTING PENNIES

Farm Girl doesn’t fully understand counting money yet. But, pennies are easy since they are counting by 1’s. To complete this worksheet you simply place a penny in each circle, counting as you go.

COUNTING MONEY

Farm Kid2 is working on counting coins & bills to make certain amounts of money, so his worksheets focused on that concept.

MAKING CHANGE

Farm Kid1 can count money just fine, but needs practice counting back change. On his worksheets the price tag shows how much the item costs. The green bills are the ones the customer used to pay. Farm Kid1’s job is to count out the change that should be given back to the customer.

The kids didn’t end up using these worksheets a ton on the road trip, but I’m pretty sure they did enjoy them at least a little. So, I will get them out occasionally for more practice. I still think the magnetic money is awesome!
