It’s officially the busy season. The hens are laying eggs like crazy. The garden beds are taking off and we’re beginning to enjoy the harvest. The weeds are growing like mad, which means there is a lot of weed pulling these days.

Spring is here and I’m loving it. The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, and I’ve been busy checking items off my outside to-do list.
Farm and Garden Recap of 2015
2015 has officially ended. Let’s look back at how our farm and gardening endeavors played out this past year. We had a fairly steady year with good food being grown and plenty of animals to keep us busy.
2015 Mama Hen Hatch #2
We knew hiding in the shasta daisies was one of our free range Easter Eggers sitting on eggs. Eventually, our farm grew by a two chicks.

We chose not to hatch chicks this year in the incubator. However, we still ended up with a few spring chicks thanks to one of our free range hens.
Oregon Fall Poultry Swap 2014
Saturday was the Oregon Fall Poultry Swap in Corvallis. This was our first time being a vendor at the Fall Swap. Although, earlier this year we were vendors at the Spring Swap. We love our Rhode Island Red chickens. We’ve had them since the beginning of our days raising chickens. They are popular for a good reason.
