After our time in South Dakota we traveled into the state which was going to be our furthest destination east.
WALNUT GROVE & PLUM CREEK
While touring Walnut Grove we camped at Plum Creek park.
The nerd that I am was even excited to drive through towns known only to me because of the Little House TV series, Sleepy Eye and Mankato.
After leaving Walnut Grove we were on to John’s mom’s house, our final destination before turning around back towards home.
Most of our time in Minnesota was spent with family enjoying potlucks and swimming in the lakes.
DULUTH & LAKE SUPERIOR
John’s cousin took us out on his boat on Lake Superior.
Bottom: The Aerial lift bridge is over 100 years old and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The only other bridge similar to the one in Duluth is located in France.
We stopped at a lake beach for playtime.
MALL OF AMERICA
We spent one afternoon at the Mall of America. Shopping’s not really my thing, but thankfully the MOA has many other activities besides shopping. We explored the Underwater Adventures aquarium, played with legos and ate dinner at Ruby Tuesday’s.
Sunsets in the Midwest are gorgeous.
After a few days in Minnesota it was time to take the long trek back home.
